Thank you so much for considering fostering for Stray Paws Rescue! As a foster-based rescue we literally could NOT do what we do without the support of our fosters. If we do not have a foster for a dog or a cat we can not rescue them. So, we are very grateful for our awesome fosters.
As a large and growing rescue we do ask for some help from our fosters. In addition to providing a loving home for your foster pet, we also ask that you help out in other ways.
-Attend at least 2 adoption events a month. Events are regularly held at Petco in Dardenne Prairie and Petco in South County. Occasionally we have special events in other locations.
-Transport your foster to/from vet appointments. We have vets in Chesterfield, Wentzville, and Ofallon, IL.
Additionally, as the person who knows your foster animal best, we ask that you assist in the adoption process. Steps in the process include:
-Speaking with the applicant,
-Calling applicant's vet to ensure animals are regularly vetted,
-Calling applicant's references,
-Arranging and attending meet and greets / home visits with your foster animal,
-Finalizing contract and payment with applicant.
You will be assigned a foster coordinator who will help with any steps in the process that are new or confusing to you. You will not be on your own to take care of these responsibilities. No experience is required, just a desire to help animals and some basic communications/people skills.
