Whitey is a special boy looking for a special home. He is a terrier mix with short legs and a long body. He seems to engage in some herding type behavior with other dogs so that could be a hint to his breed mix too. He’s about 2 years old and 20lbs. Whitey came from a setting where he lived with multiple dogs, outside with little human interaction. Therefore he loves to be outside and to run around with other dogs. He, however, is going to need a lot of time and patience to learn to trust humans. He spends all his indoor time hiding in a corner or his crate. He won’t eat or take treats around people. He runs from people if you get close to him. He never growls or is aggressive in any way at all. If cornered, he will freeze and let you handle him. His foster has never heard him bark or whine or make any noise at all. Whitey is fully housetrained! Whitey will need a quiet home with other, more confident dogs to keep him company and teach him how to be a pet dog. His adopters will need to know that it will take several months for him to feel comfortable in his new home and he will likely never be a cuddly dog. He needs a fenced yard where he can run around with the other dogs because that’s where he’s happiest. At this point Whitey is not leash trained and is too scared of the leash and people to be able to go for a walk. If you feel like you can provide this unique environment for a troubled, but very sweet and adorable boy, please submit an application and his foster will be in touch with you. Adoption fee is $250.
