Madeline is a special needs girl. Since she lived her life in a kennel being used strictly for breeding, she lost muscle control in the back half of her body. When she came into the rescue, she could not lift her back legs and had 0 control of her bladder. Now she is running, lifting her legs, and using her back legs at 90% capacity. She does not have complete control of her bladder though. We think she understands she needs to go outside but when she gets excited or is left in her kennel over night, she can't help but to have an accident. The vet is not positive if she will eventually gain complete control or if she will always have accidents. We hope to find out more at her checkup later this month! Madeline has spent her life breeding and it's taken its toll on her body. She is now in a loving foster home and is so happy and comfortable. She is a goofy, playful dog who loves to snuggle in her dog bed in front of the fireplace. She is recovering from her malnourishment and enjoying being a spoiled house pet / family member. She is sweet with people and friendly with dogs. She is an absolute sweetheart who does very well with kids and other dogs. Madeline is currently on a diet but weighs probably around 45 lbs. She was very malnourished when she was surrendered and because of that she gained weight very quickly after being rescued. But we are working on that :) With that being said, we understand that Madeline comes with a little bit of baggage and more responsibility than other dogs available for adoption. She is an absolute sweetheart who would love to be loved on all day if that was an option! She is really gentle and calm. Please don't hesitate to ask more questions. We understand that her special needs might not be appropriate for every family but are hopeful that a special family is out there waiting for their Madeline!
