Stray Paws Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, foster-based rescue. Our organization believes it is our moral responsibility to protect and improve the lives of rescued animals and place them in loving permanent homes in the St. Louis Metro Area. Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
We are a foster-based rescue, meaning our animals are cared for in private foster homes. To meet or adopt an animal, you must fill out an application form.

We pull major medical cases, including dogs with severe injuries, illnesses, and special needs.
We pull dogs from high-kill shelters across 11 states, giving them a second chance at life.
We prioritize finding the right home, not just any home, ensuring a great fit for both the pet and adopter.
We conduct home visits to ensure each pet is placed in a safe, loving, and suitable environment.
We cover all supplies, vetting, and food for fosters. The only requirement? Love and care.
We invest in training resources, including professional board-and-train programs when necessary.
We welcome all breeds and advocate for misunderstood ones, including bully breeds.
We respond to urgent situations, pulling animals in danger from disasters and neglect cases.
Unlike many rescues, we try to help responsible owners who truly have no other option.
Every dog in our care is given space, comfort, and enrichment to reduce stress.
If an adopter needs help, we remain a resource for the life of the pet.

Meet Elena, our shining star and Volunteer of the Month! Elena joined our team in September 2023, and she has quickly become a favorite among both the two-legged and four-legged members of our rescue family. Here's why we adore Elena:
🌟Milagra (Spanish for Miracle) 🌟
Stray Paws learned of a dog named Mila on Facebook, after a Texas rescue posted about her story. Mila was a stray in Brownsville, Texas, living on the streets. Neighbors said she’d been beaten with baseball bats (for no reason other than “fun”) and left for dead. She suffered many severe injuries. Most notably, much of Mila’s upper jaw was broken and necrotic, leaving her with an open wound.
🎶 Bust out your tie-dye, bell bottoms, and flower crowns—it’s time to boogie for a good cause! Stray Paws Rescue is bringing back our legendary Woofstock BINGO night, and this year it’s bigger, groovier, and full of far-out fun to help our foster animals.
